EXTREME WEATHER

Built for the Extreme

We are often asked about options available for severe climate conditions, particularly cold weather in places like Idaho, Montana, and Northern Nevada, individuals can experience temperatures to - 20* degrees Fahrenheit in the winter.

Snake River Tiny Homes has worked with a manufacturer to create an Extreme Weather Package, including increased insulation, extra snow load, and cove radiant heating. We believe it is better than any other park model tiny home in the industry.

Increased Insulation

Insulation values, or R-value, measure a material's resistance to heat flow; a higher R-value indicates better insulating effectiveness. Snake River Tiny Homes has worked with manufacturers to increase the R-values up to R-21 in the walls and R-30 in the floor and ceiling by using closed-foam spray insulation. This will meet the insulation requirement in almost any zoning regulation in the country.

By using closed‑cell spray foam insulation, we offer a level of comfort and efficiency that far surpasses most tiny homes, RVs, and manufactured homes. This advanced insulation seals out drafts and moisture while delivering impressive R‑values of up to R‑21 in the walls and R‑30 in the floor and ceiling—helping keep homes warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and more energy‑efficient year‑round. The result is a quieter, more comfortable living space that meets or exceeds insulation requirements in nearly any zoning regulation, giving homeowners peace of mind and long‑term savings.

Extra Snow Load

Snow load is the downward force on a structure's roof from accumulated snow and ice, crucial for structural design to ensure safety. Our tiny homes standard snow load works for many areas of the country, however some areas get a lot of snow and the weight can cause problems for roofs.

Snake River Tiny Homes has worked with manufacturers to increase the snow load to 150 pounds per square foot (psf). That is among the highest of any tiny home in the industry and will meet the snow load requirement in almost any zoning regulation in the country.

By designing homes with a 150 psf snow load, they’re built to handle real winter conditions with room to spare. In everyday terms, that can mean several feet of snow—often four to six feet of light powder, around three feet of typical packed snow, or one to two feet of heavy, wet snow. By planning for severe snowfall from the start, we help ensure your home stays solid, comfortable, and worry‑free through long, hard winters.

Cove Radiant Heating

Every Snake River Tiny Homes park model comes standard with an 18,000 BTU dual‑head mini‑split heating and cooling system, rated by the manufacturer to operate in temperatures as low as ‑18°F. Unlike the smaller, single‑zone systems found in many tiny homes, the dual‑head design delivers more even, efficient comfort throughout the space. This makes Snake River Tiny Homes better equipped for real‑world weather and superior to most tiny homes on the market today.

Additionally, since nobody likes to be cold, we also offer a cove radiant system in addition to the standard mini split. Our manufacturer's infrared cove radiant heaters emit radiant energy that warms people and objects in a room directly, much like the sun does. By heating your spaces with radiant energy, you will feel warmer at a lower temperature because energy is not being wasted on heating the air around you.

"I am so in love with my new tiny home! I am waiting for furniture right now. It's extremely well built. We have been in the 5-13 degrees weather and it is HOT. We haven't even had to use the main heating system, just the cove radiant heat! It's wonderful. We are so happy. My kids are loving it and having their own space!" - Tana Jones, NV
